Here you find a small selection of easy rock guitar licks which you can use in any rock guitar tune in the key of Em. Those licks represent the main techniques which you need to train when you want to get into rock lead guitar. These are bending techniques in the main position of the minor pentatonic and picking techniques to build up speed. With these licks it's already fun and it already sounds the way it should. The backing track is quite slow so that you can work on building up your speed in a relaxed manner. These files are associated to this tutorial :

  3. Hey guys, again I am a bit late but here is now the newsletter for the month March 26. 3D Music ( Dolby Atmos ) Last month has been a very busy month. I have done a lot of research in modern audio production and I was able to achieve my goals in order to produce music in Dolby Atmos rendered down to a so called binaural audio format. In short words this is 3D music productions and this will solve the main problem in solo guitar and solo piano recordings that in normal stereo productions the recordings don't give the listener a real feeling for the room and this cuts off the emotional experience of such recordings. In the very near future there will be 3D binaural recordings available for all premium members - so better get your headphones ready. 3D music only works either in large cinema's with Dolby Surround systems or headphones. Now let move on to the latest news in the HPCrazy Guitar Academy : Blues Guitar - Mixolydian Mode : The most common question in many years of teaching guitar is how to use the mixolydian mode in blues guitar. Here I show you a good method to start using the mixolydian mode the easy way just by following the regular chords of this standard blues in D with the following chord progression : D / G / D / D G / G / D / D A / G / D / A Slow Blues Guitar Training - Chord Variations : One of the crucial things I always teach my students is that you always need to know where you are in the music and feel what is the best thing to do next. At the beginning this is of course a task for everybody and the way to succeed is to reduce the difficulty level and to focus on the music and musical form. Here in this tutorial I show you how to use some very basic chord variations and how to follow this blues in G with your chord variations. Rock High Intensity Rock Lead Guitar Tricks : Here I show you some tips, tricks and licks that you can play on a high intensity rock lead guitar with 120 bpm. The trick is to set a counterpoint to the speed of the track and to fill it with intensity. Creative Hard Rock Guitar Riff : Here I show a creative hard rock guitar riff over a simple progression : Am / Am / Am C D. The trick to sound great is to learn how to do a development arc in your guitar playing and your hard rock guitar riffs and here I show you some examples how you can do it. Jazz Bluesy Smooth Jazz Guitar : Here I give you bluesy tips and tricks how you can give your bluesy guitar playing a smooth jazz guitar vibe by referring to each of the chords of the progression which are Ebm7 / Ebm7 / Abm7 / Abm7 / Ebm7 / Ebm7 / Bb7alt / Bb7alt The trick is that you always know where you are and to start to play around the defined key notes of each chord or add some simple figures in combination with you normal and regular blues licks. Sunny - Advanced Smooth Jazz Guitar Improvisation : Here we dive into some advanced ideas on a smooth jazz guitar improvisation on the popular song " Sunny ". I talk about how to combine the blues scale and the modes of the song with chromatic smooth guitar licks to a joyful and relaxed smooth jazz improvisation on " Sunny ". Sound Lab Abt Guitars Capricorn : Here I make a review on clean sound settings on the Capricorn guitar crafted by Abt Guitars : The Capricorn guitar from abt guitars (www.abtguitars.com) is a very high-quality instrument. Thanks to selected, well-seasoned woods, the semi-acoustic headless concept with multi-scale, the titanium truss rod, and the sophisticated pickups from Kinman, this guitar offers features that are only found in high-quality instruments. A Fender VibraKing with two 2x12 cabinets was chosen as the amp. The sound is clean to slightly distorted. When striking the strings, the question is how quickly and directly the feedback returns. How does the guitar respond to the dynamics of the stroke, e.g., when striking the strings softly or more forcefully? How does the sound respond to finger picking or using a plectrum? How does it respond in single coil and humbucker mode with the various pickup settings? What warm tones and sustain can be achieved with different playing techniques along the entire fretboard? What feedback is generated with bending, sliding, tapping, touch technique, legato, etc.? Find more insight about sound, amp and mic settings in my blog :

  9. Breaking the Stereo Prison: The Future of Immersive Binaural GuitarHave you ever wondered why a solo guitar or a piano sounds so much "larger" and more "alive" when you sit in the same room, compared to even the best studio recordings? The Problem: The Two-Dimensional WallTraditional stereo recordings compress the vastness of sound into a flat, two-dimensional plane between two speakers. Especially for solo instrument recordings, this creates a sonic dilemma: the reverb and natural reflections have to fight for the same space as the direct signal. The result often feels narrow, crowded, and loses the "breath" of the original performance. The Solution: 3D Audio Architecture vs. Cheap EffectsWithin my E-E-A-T-R Framework, I am utilizing Dolby Atmos and Wavelab 13 to dissolve these boundaries. My goal is not to create "spinning sound effects" that distract the listener. My goal is Dimension. Solo Guitar Realism: By placing sound objects in a three-dimensional space, the reflections get their own coordinates—far behind, above, or deep within the virtual room. The Stairwell Phenomenon: Just like playing in a real stone stairwell, the sound waves reach your ears from various angles and with distinct time delays. Your brain uses these cues to perceive physical substance and depth—something impossible in a standard stereo field. Binaural Rendering Excellence: In my latest prototypes, I use subtle sinus-rotations and vertical layering of spatial reverb to simulate the natural interaction of sound with a physical environment. Why You Must Listen with HeadphonesTo experience this Immersive Binaural Guitar Experience, headphones are mandatory. This allows the binaural algorithms (HRTF) to deliver the spatial cues directly to your ears, bypassing the limitations of traditional speakers. You are no longer just listening to a file—you are standing in the room with me. Experience the guitar as it was meant to be: Free, resonant, and with true room to breathe. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)What is the "Stereo Prison" you are talking about?Standard stereo recordings are limited to a flat line between two speakers. For a solo instrument like a guitar, this means the natural room reflections (reverb) are layered directly on top of the instrument. This often makes the recording feel "crowded" or "small." I use the term "Stereo Prison" because the sound cannot escape this 2D plane to breathe as it does in real life. How does Dolby Atmos improve a solo guitar recording?Unlike stereo, Dolby Atmos allows me to place sounds and reflections as "objects" in a 3D space. I can move the reverb to the back or the ceiling of a virtual room. This creates a "sonic architecture" where the guitar has its own physical space, making the sound more transparent, deep, and realistic. Do I need special equipment to hear these 3D effects? To experience the full "Immersive Binaural Experience," you simply need a pair of standard headphones. My system uses binaural rendering (HRTF), which tricks your brain into perceiving distance and height through your headphones, just as you would hear in a real concert hall. Is this just another artificial audio effect?Actually, it’s the opposite. While many producers use 3D audio for "gimmicks" (like sounds spinning around your head), I use it for realism. My goal is to reconstruct the natural acoustic environment of a room. It is a tool for dimension and depth, not for artificial distraction. Why is the 3D effect sometimes very subtle? The most natural acoustic environments are subtle. If the effect is too strong, your brain focuses on the "movement" instead of the music. By keeping the spatial cues delicate, I ensure that you stay focused on the emotional performance of the guitar while your subconscious enjoys the realistic sense of space.
  10. Today I tried my brand new guitar sounds together with the current new slow blues backing track I produced ( https://www.music-pictures.com ) and I played some blue ( Farbmusik ) blues guitar with Dr. Pink. Finding the right guitar sounds is kind of a search for the holy grail. You might want to read my article about that topic here : If you love this song and give it a try yourself you can download the backing track here :
