Hey Ross, thanks for your description. Since you have a lot of live experience on rhythm guitar this topic is not in the focus at the moment but there is a lot to gain with not too much work on your solo abilities. First of all I strongly recommend that you enlarge your knowledge of minor pentatonic patterns. You find them here for download : I would start this way : Learn Pattern 1 perfect and use it in the low position and also in the high position which is the same pattern shape but it feels different for your fingers and in some cases if you have big hands you might don't want to use the pinky in the high position so you need to learn 2 types of fingerings. Then I recommend that you additional learn Pattern 2 as and extension of Patterns 1... specific on the 3 top strings and Pattern 4 as a bridge between the low and the high Pattern 1. Unfortunatly the backing track don't have an index by key - but there are many in the key of A specific in the blues guitar intermediate range : once you feel familiar with the patterns in the key of A start to move them to other keys. It's simple - when you check the patterns which you can download ( view above ) the root note is marked with the index number " 1 " - so thats the A. If you want to play as an example in the key of G then just move down all patterns 2 frets, Key of C - move up 3 frets, Key of D - move up 5 frets. The key of E is a bit an execption - there the low position 1 works with open strings but the rest is the same. So thats what I would recommend to start. The backing tracks are added to the tutorials of the blues guitar intermediate course or all tutorials with that tag. You just download them and start step by step. The key of the backing track is name in each of the posts here : https://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/members/files/category/6-blues-guitar/ or I have a series of old " blues backing tracks " available in iTunes - in this old series you find the keys and the tempo of the songs - but there are no tutorials available : https://music.apple.com/us/artist/hpcrazy/151041119 I hope this gives you some work for a few weeks
  3. Hey Richiie - thanks for your feedback. Glad to hear that That's a very good question. Once you know the tools which you can use how to make it sound nice and melodical ? There are several steps possible : Learn some jazz themes and check out how melodies are formed and compare it with your knowledge of theory and learn how those melodies work and then try to make variations of those melodies. Start with simple themes such as " St. Loius Blues " or " Take the A Train " . Sometimes there are gaps in the theoretical knowledge who don't cover all of it - just take it as a challenge. The other thing is - work out your own melodies and try to move from chord note ( root, triad, fifth ) to chord note. Try to avoid to stop too many melodies on the root note or only when the melodie is an ending. The root note sounds a bit boring - try to listen how the triad or the fifth sounds and try to get inspired. In Jazz you don't need to play many notes - just the right ones. That's a good tip. Your ears are the guidling line to select. That would be the best advice if you are still in the basic jazz improvisation level. If you are more experienced you might want to work with " options " in your melody making. There you target the remaining notes execpt the chord notes in your melody creation. You find some theory written about this here : I hope this helps for a first improvment

Email an : info@farbmusik.com ---------------------- Now my first CD with complete compositions and a complete concept has been released again after a very long time. After more than 70 releases of my own works and contributing to over 500 samplers so far and being a YouTuber for many years, the creative tank was a bit empty. This CD is a “Back To The Roots” of color music, both philosophically, spiritually and artistically and combines many things and musical means that I have always worked on and developed over the years. Color music is always about balance - everything in life has a place as long as it is in balance - hence the title “ Equinox ” - a synonym for balance in nature. Available in all usual download & streaming stores - but on request by mail you can also get the special edition as MP3 with a “ colored ” and pictorial digital extra directly from me.
