I have been into professional online education since 2003 having my first guitar sites and websites around music. Looking back to those times I still have a smile on my face because back then the internet was an unexplored area which one could be creative and in fact reach many people with the work as an artist. And so I did - I reached millions of users since then but like around 2018 things started to change. The first laws with restrictions came and of course all the big companies tried to get more and more influence over the internet and so they did. Also being in the Swiss YouTube team I have seen many things which were going on in the background which leaded to my p…

I will start to upload random performance video's which I record mostly direct after I recorded a tutorial and I started to upload them on my TikTok account which created way more traffic then when I upload it here on my main YT channel. Don't ask me what the reason is for that because I don't know. Anyway - since not everybody has TikTok i will upload the same content on my 2nd YouTube channel and also post them here on my website in the Guitar department. You can support my efforts to get more traffic on those videos by subscribing to that channel as well... and BTW help me to reach out 1 K subscribers there. I would be really grateful. The reason I can not upload those…

In these blog I want write about my practice routines on guitar to give you an impression what I am working on. Some exercises are really a long lasting project and some just for a certain time. I always start my guitar practicing with these classical arpeggio exercises and I play all of them first slow, then medium tempo and sometimes I try them faster. One of the main problems on these exercises is, that the left hand fingering is quite challenging since the intervals are either 5ths or 6ths or similar and you need to skip the strings in certain positions and sometimes you need to make small barré fingerings - this in combination with the picking technique make thi…

Dr. Pink is getting some company by Mrs Blue. This is a PRS Cheasapeake Bay Bridge Private Stock guitar and it will replace if all goes well my old Godin LGX which I have been playing for over 30 years now. In the past months I felt that the Godin LGX can not display the sound I want to create since I reached a new level of expression on guitar so I was starting to look for a new guitar and since mom left me a few bucks it would have been her wish to invest it properly. So I estimated a budget of 7K for a new guitar - but I didn't find any which really striked me as my old Godin LGX done 30 years ago. At that time that guitar was 3.5K and I only had 100 bucks in my pocket…

I just watched the movie " Birth of the Cool '' on Netflix. It's the story of Miles Davis and how influential he was in the world of music. I was always a fan of the musical approach of Miles Davis because he never stopped his development in creativity and music. There was this one scene where they talked about the moment where he started to use the bell with his horn and created the sound which we all know by Miles. There was a festival where a lot of representatives of Columbia Records were sitting in the audience - and he got signed. It was the sound and the vibe of the sound which brought the notes so much to a bigger audience and made jazz so popular. In fact this is…

Hey guys, many people always asked me if I play in a band and in the past years I always said, that I don't play in a band because I am too busy with all my online projects which were going really well. But it always was something I wanted to do but of course I am really picky with musicians even everybody wanted to play with me in Switzerland. Well maybe not everybody but most of the musicians I know always said that they would join me if I would form a band. I had a talk with Mario Caspar 2 days ago. And I consider him the best drummer in Switzerland when it comes to funky, straight ahead and bluesy grooves. He said he's in and drummers always want to select t…

Some of you might have noticed that I was not so creative in the past months. It had it's reasons - I was busy to take care of my daily things and my family. My dad passed away 4 years ago, last year my sister followed and now my mom also left to enternity. My entire family is now gone. I feel like a chapter is closing and for sure it will have an impact on my artist work. What exactly it will be I don't know now but I know something will change. I remember when my dad passed away somehow I learnt to be more responsible in life and now I don't know which effect this situation will have on me. But what I know at the moment is that there is no need to stay in Switerland any…

Healing and meditation music Since our world and our society is facing many changements and challenges I have been thinking for quite a while about my personal next steps in music and the music business. I am looking back to a quick successful career in the music business since 1991. I have been a performing artist, composer for TV and movies and companies, a professor at music university, a representative of my country Switzerland on international music symposiums and I recorded over 60 CD's and I am represented on over 500 samplers as far as I checked the last time like 3 years ago. I also have been very prominent in online teaching on guitartricks.com, gibson…

I always had this idea of doing outdoor meditation concerts - like doing a fullmoon concert and being outside and in fact watching the moon while playing somewhere out in nature. But since I dont like to play acoustic guitar so much this was never possible with the electric guitar. But now I have this great new outdoor equipment which contains a 500W jackery powerbank connected with a solar panel. I have done a first test today and it works. I can charge the powerbank within 1-2 hours to get enough power for a one hour concert where I have my Roland 60W acoustic amplifier, my Mackie Mixer and my Fractal Audio FM3. This is awesome. As soon as the weather makes it possible …

All backing tracks you find here on my website are productions from my own studio. For me this is not such a big thing to produce them because I have been a professional composer for TV, Movie and Broadcasting from the years 2003 - 2012. There I active produced tracks, teasers, comercial tracks for adds and things like that. I had many placements in Swiss national TV, in severel ABC shows like Ugly Betty, Orange is the new Black and other TV shows around the globe. So producing backing tracks is really an easy task for me since I know how to produce music in many genres and have the proper tools for that. I am using mainly Steinberg products : Nuendo 11 Groove A…

Hey guys, I wanted to share more background information on the production of any jazz production. These are jazz guitar recordings in the near future and all jazz backing tracks since 2021. I want them to sound as authentic as possible so they are all using the original reverb setting of the center on the birdland café in New York to give it a really authentic vibe as sitting in that club. You can listen to this file here where I used that method :

I want to share a few thoughts I went through in the past weeks and months which led to a personal reset which has started in these days which in fact will alter my artist work a bit and probably make it more personal then it was before. I think the past 12 months were challenging for nearly everybody on this planet in many ways. I always said to my close people or those I spoke to that the Covid crisis brings people to what they really are. And so I thought about my upcoming path as an artist and musician also with this new situation that hit artists probably most. I know that I have been very successful as an online instructor in the past 15 years. I have been…

I have been an independent artist all my life so I want to share a few thoughts about my life in general and what I learnt to show what it means to be an independent artist to give others an idea what such life is like. I think the focus is on the word independent which means you don't have any backbone or a net which can catch you when you fall. This gives music and the way you express music a different vibe and you see music and they way you work with music in a total different way. On of my principles in my work as an independent artist always was that you have to touch people's emotions with your art because then people see a value in your work and then they hire…

For real fans this is for sure a nice additional information to see how the music develops for a concert takes place. To get to the comments tab just click on the concert of your choice and scroll down. There you find it.

Creativity and Meditation What is the connection between meditation and creativity ? I want to share my thoughts and my way of living creativity. My way of seeing music, art, thoughts and life is, that everything is already there you just need to open up your mind to see or feel it and then start to create. There is a prominent example for that way of thinking. When Michelangelo, the famous italian artist was asked how he created his famous David statue he answered that the statue was always there he just needed to remove the unnecessary parts from the stone. It's the same with music. Music is something which has always been there you just need to be able to hea…
