Hey Nick - yes it's a challenge to go for the 2 and 4 if you have never done that before. But when you listen to any rock drum the snare is always on 2 and 4 so this helps to keep on track.

Metal Guitar - Essential Rhythm Studies Tabs & Backing Tracks If you want to get into Metal Guitar you need to know the basic rhythm figures which are unfortunately based on 16th notes. If you don't know rhythm and rhythm notation you will have quit a hard time. So these rhythm studies will help you to learn the rhythm notation which is used in metal guitar. In these rhythm studies you first learn the basic rhythm figures including the pauses which are also important and in the second part you learn to make combinations out of the basic figures. It is very important that you can locate each of the 4 notes which makes a 16th note group. If you are able to play and sight - read the 2nd part of these studies you managed these rhythm studies. To make it easier for you you can play the studies just with the low E string which already sounds a lot like Metal Guitar. Start with 60 bpm then rise the tempo. I have exported the audio file with 75 bpm which is still slow but gives you the time to still figure out the different parts. If you can play the studies with 120 bpm then you are near to a Metal Guitar Master. I have added 2 backing tracks with metal music in E in 70 bpm and 105 bpm that you can practice those exercises in 2 different tempo's. I have decided to make the whole fullmoon concerts of the year 2022 as live concerts but with live-streaming. They will be held in the church of Seegräben. This is a tiny little church in the village of Seegräben. I used to live there for a few years and I must say it was the best time of my life and I really enjoyed this little church, which was always open and there is this old upright piano which has it's special tuning and I really loved to play and compose there alone in this little church. If you are from Switzerland you might want to join one of those concerts. Here you can learn the theme of the very standard jazz standard " Misty " by Erroll Garner. I will show you the version which is written in the Real Book and also how to make slight variations on the theme. In the 2nd part I show you chords which go along with the melody. Those ones are probably not for beginners, but those really work together with the theme of the song. In the 3rd part I show a very easy way to improvise to this tune by using the Eb major scale together with the blue note. In the B section I just follow the melody a bit and make variations out of it. With this method you will sound nice and smooth and are able to improvise even with very little knowledge about jazz music theory. Here you can download the tabs and the backing track :
