Jazz Guitar Secrets - II V Chord Progression ( Major ) One of the most valuable methods in jazz guitar is to work out different modules, where you put together a few chords to a block and you work out chords or improvisation for the full module. The most important modul is the II V chord progression. In this case I am talking about the II V chord progression in a major mode. Here it's the chord progression Gm7 / C7. I will show you some basic chords which you can practice and the modes which are attached to those chords. These are Dorian and Mixolydian. Then I will show you how you can start to work out your improvisation skills by using the modes, arpeggio's and approach notes. This is a spontanious original recording where I felt like playing a dark blues rock guitar with a shuffle groove. I really love that Drop D tuning sound this gives it a great vibe and fits great for a distorted blues guitar solo. I really love those riff and sounds with the Drop D tuning since D minor is such a powerful key and gives this great vibe which works best on blues rock.
