  2. View File Easy Scale Building Playing different scales, modes and the orientation on the fretboard is a major topic for all guitar players and from my point of view there are 2 ways to approach this problem. 1. You can learn hunderts of patterns which you find in many pattern books you find on the market. Here you find a good collection of different patterns : https://www.guitar.ch/en/guitars/scales/scales.html 2. You understand what is the essence of a scale, how it's built and how you derive from the basic pentatonic patterns to the major and minor scales and modes. The file which you can download here helps you to go the 2nd way. The key is that most guitar players come the minor pentatonic pattern 1 + 4 and there you can start the journey. Derive Minor & Major Scales from basic pentatonic positions 1. Learn the positions 1 + 4 of the minor pentatonic and learn the intervals by heart - these are 1 b3 4 5 b7. The root note is marked red on the graphics. 2. Learn the posistions 1 + 4 of the major pentatonics. The trick is - they are exactly the same patterns on the fretboard - you just need to move the pattern down 3 frets, redefine the root note ( marked red ) and learn the new intervals 1 2 3 5 6 by heart. 3. Minor Scale - check the intervals. The new notes are marked red here : 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7. The grid of the pattern of the minor pentatonic remains - just add the 2 new notes. 4. Major Scale - check the intervals. The new notes are marked red here : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 The grid of the pattern of the minor pentatonic remains - just add the 2 new notes. Additional 2 minor scales ( Harmonic & Melodic Minor ) 1. Harmonic Minor Scale - check the intervals and compare it with the minor scale. The new note compared with the minor scale is marked red. 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 7 2. Melodic Minor Scale - this one is not used often but good to know. It's a mix between minor and major scales. You can derive it either from the minor scale where you have to change 2 notes ( marked red ) 1 2 b3 4 5 6 7 or from the major scale where you have to change 1 note ( marked red ) 1 2 b3 4 5 6 7 Submitter admin Submitted 04/07/2023 Category Theory & Exercises

  3. In the past 2 weeks there was a lot of maintenance works on the server going on. There were a few problems which we ran into due to the bigger amount of data and files and the number of users but now all should be fine again. It's possible that there were a few short dropouts of this website in this timeframe. So if you ran into a problem due to that please contact me.

  5. Currently I am working a lot on sounds, playing techniques with sounds, expressions of notes with sounds just to make the guitar sound unique and that I have the ability to express each note like a singer would do. Which vibrato fits to which pickup, delay, reverb and amp setting. It's quite a work but I feel like this is a next step to my personal development of guitar playing. When you look back to the history of guitar players it was those players which had their unique sound embedded in their playing style which stayed even though there are in fact many great guitar players on this planet. This is what I am currently working on and it's really exciting...
  6. Today the HPCrazy Guitar Academy went through a major re-ordering process. After having the studio optimize only for online teaching and online students - everything got reordered that live - students also feel welcome and very comfortable there. Here you can see how it looks like now.

Here you find some ideas to make your alternative rock guitar song sound really special. I took the very very common progression with C / G / F / C G and made some really great sound versions of it. There is the main rhythm guitar which you can play with a slight distorted guitar which creates this deep alternative vibe and then add the other unusual chords to them. The backing track is drums, bass & the main guitar riff. These files are associated to this tutorial here :

  10. Here is another " test recording " with the 7 string guitar. A blues with 7 strings and a slightly different tuning. It sounds different than usual. An example of this unconventional tuning - in the 70's there were 2 rock bands in Australia. One was called Rose Tattoo the other AC DC. The 2nd band made their early albums with slightly lower tuned instruments. Otherwise the bands sounded almost identical...
  11. I have updated the Site Guidelines today. https://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/members/guidelines/ The biggest change is now on the issue if a member has not canceled an automatic subscriptions and claims to get a refund. I have had quite a few cases in the past weeks - and there is nothing I can do because if you select the automatic renewal on PayPal during your premium membership upgrade then this will be done in your paypal account and you have to cancel it yourself. The automatic renewal is set on " OFF " by default. Here you can read all nessessary information :

  13. I am picking up the 7-string journey again. I was tied back because of my injury but I picked up the 7 string guitar again. How is the best way to approach the 7-string guitar when you are coming from the normal 6-string guitar ? The best is to start in the key of Bm or blues in B because this takes in the open and low B-string and start to build up from there and add the knowledge from the 6 string guitar. The main problem is the orientation because the additional string confused the trained 6 string orientation. I want to share here now 3 chords + the Bm blues scale over 4 ! ocataves. Thats really great. 7-string ideas bm.pdf

  15. I continued today with some SEO optimization - currently the academy gets most traffic from YouTube or recurring members. The goal is to get more traffic from organic search on google. Thanks to the help of https://www.medienkonzept.de I know what to do. It's quite a task and beside high quality content it's also important to know the technical requirements for a dynamic website such as this one here.
  16. Thanks Clyde - and welcome here at the Academy
  17. Yeah I love this one here - I turned it into a song of mine. Due to my long lasting injury I needed to wait till my arm gets better since the 7string guitar triggered the pain even more. But I thought about it again today and I will bring it in again.
