If you want to play a great dark and dramatic rock guitar riff then the phrygian mode is the one to choose. It gives your riff and sound this dark, dramatic and cinematic effect which you might are looking for. In this tutorial I show you a selection of riffs and ideas which you can use for a rock guitar riff with the phrygian mode. In this case it's E phrygian. Finally I picked up the 7-string guitar again and worked out some stuff which works only with the 7 string guitar. And here's a cool chord progression in the key of E minor. It's a progression which we all played many times : Em / D / C / B7 but now with the power of the 7 strings - a big big wow how these chords have so many deep tones and vibes. And since we are in E Minor I also added the E minor pentatonic to the tabs - sounds really different - for those who own a 7 string guitar. You definitely should check this stuff out.
