Romantic Rock Balade - Guitar Lesson Here I talk about a romantic rock guitar balade. If you want to play a romantic rock balade and express your feelings then a balade in 6/8 is the one to go for. Why is 6/8 great for romantic rock ballads ? Because any measure in 3 or 6 creates a circle which is the sign of eternity and this gives the music you are playing that eternal vibe which has to be created. In romantic balades it’s always about emotions and not the technique or playing fast - but the bad news is that in my opinion slow songs on 6/8 are the hardest thing to play if you play an instrumental version of it. Why is that like this ? Because you have a lot of time to play the wrong notes. This is now the next piano meditation concert which matches the neptun moon conjunction on dec. 13th in pieces. This will be a very mystic and thoughtful day and the colors violet and indigo will match perfect to that day. As the title is saying - these will be an improvised meditative concert and it shall boost up the colors of the day to the listener. It's about meditation, about mystizism and about unlimited possibilities. There will be more such concerts to come, also on guitar. Mit Farbe durch den Winter Tomorrow the first concert of the series " Mit Farbe durch den Winter " will take place. It is a pure live streaming concert concept and is intended to be a counterbalance to the other somewhat difficult circumstances we all face. Tomorrow I will improvise meditative colors on the piano. The same as at my color music concerts, for which some of you have already been there. The feedback at these rather small concerts was always that it could give those who were there moments of reflection, moments of connection and a form of emotional wholeness. That's something that some people could certainly use at the moment and concerts can only take place under very difficult conditions. So it's quite simple - then the concerts take place as a live stream from my studio. The picture doesn't give as much as in a church, but the sound is in studio quality which is much more important. It is planned to do this weekly until the end of the year - similar to Advent Sunday and then I'll see what the feedback of the maybe only few people who want to listen to such a concert is like. Here's now the first of the series - will be broadcasted on sunday 6:30 PM Zürich time.

Guitar Secrets - Minor Smooth Jazz In this guitar secrets tutorial I talk about minor smooth jazz. I am giving you a whole bundle of ideas how you can work out on a typical minor smooth jazz chord progression. In this case I made it pretty simple for you. This is the chord progression I have used : Fm7 / Fm7 / Db7 / C7alt First I show you the chords I have used and then I give some really deep insight how to play a great lead guitar over this progression. So the first step is to analyze what kind of modes can be played over each of the chords. For beginners in the smooth jazz topic it's the F minor blues scale which can be used over the entire track. To follow the chords you can use a simple trick by just playing the bluenote ( B ) on the Db7 chords and the E on the C7alt chord. These are guide tones so you match pretty well to those chords. For more sophisticated soling I do an analysis for you and give you a 2nd possibility for each chord. This is called modal interchange. That means you can select the mode which you like more or you can mix up the different modes the way you want to make your soloing sound more interesting. I give you some short tips on the secondary modes on how to make your mode sound more interesting by using upper structure triads. That's a great way of working out the sound of any selected mode. At the end I give some instructions how to work out the modes with a distorted lead sound.
