Newsletter Archiv
Here's now the November 23 newsletter : Blues Advanced use of the mixolydian mode : In this month I made 2 tutorials on the advanced use of the mixolyidan mode. I am showing licks and also possibilities to make combinations with the minor and major pentatonics. For the fans of minor blues I made a tutorial where I teach you how to make combinations with a minor blues riff and lead guitar. Rock Month of the modes : In this month I made 2 tutorials about the use of modes. On is an easy introduction on how to use modes in a tune and the other one talks specific about the dorian mode in a rock guitar envirement. Jazz Advanced tutorials : I've made a tutorial about one of the most iconic jazz guitar tunes " Midnight Blue " by Kenny Burrell and a tutorial which teaches you the advanced use of modes in a simple progression by using the " modal interchange " method which is very common in jazz. Month of the modes This month was very much focused on modes. They are the tools to really make great music and expand your playing on a way more expressive and creative level. If you still have difficulties in understanding modes and the theory behind it, I strongly recommend that you work yourself through the theory first. or you make yourself familiar with the theory of the diatonic chord progression which explains you how to analyze a chord progression and how to proceed modal interchange. Your Tutorial Requests ! I am always struggeling to find good ideas for tutorials. Somebody requested that I do " Carlos Santana " again. That's a great suggestion so you can await some Carlos Santana in the upcoming time. If you have some other requests and ideas please let me know and post your request here : Special Member Offer ! If you are a student of this or my local students community and you are located in Switzerland I can make you a great offer. Bodo from moon-music.ch who is a good friend of mine is offering some very limited offers for my students were you can get selected high quality guitars for a dramatic discount. This offer is only available for students who are able to pick the guitar up themselfs. The current offer is this guitar here. If you are interested please write me a PM. Social Media I have opened up a new Whatsapp Channel were students and followers can get instant messages which you probably will not find anywhere else. I will use this channel to share information which is also time sensitive so it might makes sense to join the channel. This might be spontanious livestreams or other things. You find it " HPCrazy Guitar Academy " here : https://www.whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va8KMMk8F2p8XY39eB3Q or use this QR code New Payment Gateway Many of you have contacted me to ask if there are other possibilities to pay for your premium membership or other services then by using PayPal. I finally installed a new payment gateway where you can just pay with your credit card without the need to have an account somewhere. Here you can read more about this new and great feature here in the academy. When you make a payment now you find the new gateway as " Credit Card ( Stipe ) ". That's the name of the service I have connected to this website. It does not work in all countries worldwide but it's a great first step to solve this problem and more and more countries are included in Stripe.com. New concerts ( livestreams ) Since I have decided to take my creative powers back to the center of my work. I am restarting my career as a live performer with 2 concepts. The one concept is the Farbmusik Fullmoon Concerts held in the small church in Seegräben ( Switzerland ). There I perform my unique concept of improvising colors on piano and guitar and people can experience the colors with the music and the light. During the concert I have a small controller where I can select the color I will improvise next and people can wish any color they want. The concerts are also broadcasted live but due to the low light settings inside the church you don't see so much but you still see the color and the audio quality is good. The next concert is on Nov. 27th - if you are around near Seegräben Switzerland you can also be part of it in the small growing live audience. and the 2nd concept are the HPCrazy Guitar Nights which I started again 2 months ago. This is currently only a livestream from my studio even there was a small live audience there each time. So if you are near Egg ZH ( Switzerland ) and you want to join in the small live audience send me a PM. The next concert is on Nov. 24th. and please support my work with a donation even if you are only a viewer of the livestream. There is in fact a lot of work behind all of this which keeps me very busy on a 7 day week. I also started to compose and record again. This will also go into the concerts. Here a most recent work. A very dark ambient guitar tune called " Black Hole " Thats all for the moment. That's for your attention and thanks for your support here on this small but growing community. If you love my work please support it with a T-Shirt, a premium membership or a donation. There is now a T-Shirt shop on my YouTube Channel. There you find them : https://www.youtube.com/@Hpcrazy/store Here you can make your premium membership : https://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/members/subscriptions/ and here you can make donations : https://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/members/clients/donations/ Best HP

Feedback from the AI Front regarding music and creative professionals. The fact is that the first platforms and tools are there that can quickly compose music according to the relevant specifications and make it available for download. I tested one platform and it usually takes 2-3 minutes and you have 60 seconds of music according to the relevant templates you entered. As you would expect, the results are quite usable across all genres of electronic music, if still a bit vague and undefined. In other genres, the weaknesses become even more visible. But that cannot hide the fact that if someone needs sound for a presentation for little money, such files are sufficient, as the sound is only intended to achieve ambience. However, one must not forget that AI is self-learning and improvements can therefore be expected in the coming years. There was recently a strike by creative workers in Hollywood over this very issue. Wage dumping due to the use of AI. It was then agreed that they would like to implement a "human" solution here and the one agency I am contracted to also writes today that they will not accept music that has been produced with AI. What is of course also clear is that when it comes to really "big" music with a real emotional effect, it doesn't work without talented artists. This was also stated in the agency briefing. That's the current situation - the development is indeed threatening, but there is still a place for people who practice composition with the utmost professionalism. Personally, I will continue to use my current product “Farbmusik”. An AI cannot capture the emotional connection between music and color because it has no emotions.

Guitar Practice Notes, Files and Thoughts
I am currently back on a practice routine of 4-6 hours or more per day. I am working hard on technical exercises which are the 3 note per string patterns of major and minor and also harmonic and melodic minor in several speeds. I am also working on doing those patterns with tremolo picking which in fact is quite a challenge for me because I considered myself a legato player before and I always skipped those exercises. Beside these exercises I really want to take my chances now on sweep picking techniques. This is really hard for the fingers and it needs many many repetitions to get it all right so that you can start to use those passages in regular playing. My goal is to get a more complete player and so it is necessary to go through this. It's really something which also needs regular sports exercises besides to not get into injuries because playing guitar is not a natural movement for the body and so besides that practice routines it is necessary to do sports at least on a 2 days or better daily rhythm. Beside the scale and pattern practice and working a lot on the development of a truly emotional guitar sound with puristic sound settings such as a Fender Deluxe with only a spring reverb and medium distortion sounds and dynamic playing with pinch harmonics and dynamic pic work during runs and phrases. It starts to work out fine - especially on my new guitar which really displays all little nuances of the playing technique. I also work on a fat and emotional sound with the slighly distorted Fender Deluxe sound in the very high positions from the 15th till the 24th fret. There I have the problem that my fingers are too big for the small frets so thats a challenge to get things sounding great up there and to have full tone control. And last but not least I am upgrading the jazz department. My goal is to get this new emotional guitar sound and playing technique into regular jazz standards in improvisation from 60bpm till currently 220bpm. And therefore I am working on the jazz standards in the list below to always follow each chord in the improvisation. Thats the keypoint in jazz guitar improvisation from my point of view. So here is the list of the jazz standards I am currently working on : Misty Blue in Green Autumne Leaves All of Me All The Things You Are Fly Me To The Moon Cold Duck Time Girl From Ipanema Jazz Blues Oleo Flintstones Footprints Night In Tunesia ( I love love love this one here ) Stella By Starlight Take the A Train There Will Never Be Another You And last but not least don't miss the next guitar night livestream on Oct. 21st at 20:00 Zürich Time.

Modes - Intervals
View File Modes - Intervals A lot of students have difficulties in understanding why intervals are so important to understand modes. Here are a few exercises where the modes are all played starting from the C on the 3rd fret on the A string. Here you can see the difference of the modes very well and you can understand how they are built. Once you can alter from one mode to another in just one position then you can start to do this everywhere on the fretboard. All you need to know are the intervals of each mode and where to find each interval in relation to the root note of the mode. This exercise seems to be small and easy but this is the main thing you need to learn if you want to be able to play freely on the entire fretboard. Every mode is defined through the intervals in relation to the root note. Submitter admin Submitted 10/14/2023 Category Theory & Exercises
