  1. Hey Larry, you are welcome. Was pretty much work but since this little community is building up it was worth doing it. I do some tutorials from time to time which are exactly for this. Working solo or just with drum and bass and one guitar. yes it's the right place.
  2. Hey Sara, you are welcome. Yes the amazing thing with scatting is, that it is way easier then one thinks. I remember when I tried first - it just worked from the beginning.
  3. yes you told me about it in the live chat. I checked them out and I love that band. Maybe I make a tutorial about them one day. yes they really fit into many musical situations. ?
  4. Thats all whats music about - and it's part of my concept Technic should only be a tool for musical expression. If speed is part of this then its ok otherwise it does not make sense. Thats the right goal. ?
  5. Well it's somehow an easy system. 6. Billie's Bounce - Guitar Lesson Here you can learn everything about Billie's Bounce . This is a jazz blues which was composed by Charlie Parker in 1945 and it is a pretty complex Melody with a lot of jumps of 4ths and 5ths. What also makes this melody special is that it seems to be in a 3/4 measure by setting the accents in that way but it is in a measure of 4/4. We don't really know if this song is dedicated to Billie Holiday or his agent Billie Shaw or even his secretary Billy Miller. Introduction 0:30 The tutorial starts by an example with some improvisation and some scatting lines. That thing is a technique where you sing and play unisono at the same time. Chords 2:41 In the next part I talk about the blues form which is a normal 12 Bar Blues form in F with the following chords : F7 / F7 / F7 / F7 Bb7 / Bb7 / F7 / D7 Gm7 / C7 / F7 D7 / Gm7 C7 I give some instructions how to make syncopes by placing the chords on 1 and 2 + or 1 and 4+ and how to make your rhythm guitar really cool and grooving. Theme 7:56 In the next part I show my version how to play the theme of Billie's Bounce. Normally you play a theme one octave higher than its written but in this case it makes sense to play it in the original pitch because the phrasing requires open strings and this way it's the easiest way to proceed and it's and the best in this tune. Improvisation Tips 16:24 In the final part I give some insight in a easy improvisation concept by using the F blues scale or a mixed scale will replace the interval of flat 7 through a 6. Then I show some combinations of playing blues scale chords or Wes Montgomery style octave. Scatting 23:22 Here I show you how you can practice the scatting technique. There you play and sing your phrases simulatonious. This is a great technique which is used in Jazz often with players such as George Benson or others. It’s also a great technique to improve your ear training. Billie's Bounce.pdf Billie's Bounce.gp billies bounce ( drum bass ).mp3
  7. Hey Larry, nice having you hear on the Students club and thanks for sharing your story. A Gibson SG is a fine guitar and works well for blues. I think in these crazy times music is a good tool to find balance again and thats one of my current goals in creating video's for you out there. I like that project - maybe other students want to participate this project and we all together create this blues.
  8. Hey Sara, I am glad I could help. I also work more with the picture of the notes on the fretboard and through visulization of it during playing. ?
  9. Here you can learn the song Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Cyrus thought there is also a Spanish version available which is called “ No Rompas Mas Mi Pobre Corazon “. I am showing you the signature parts of this song which is the intro, the main rhythm and the one guitar solo. On the original recording you can hear up to three guitars but I worked out of version for you which is easy to play and it's only for one guitar. The song itself has a very simple form this is : A / A / A / E / E / E / E / A This form repeat itself all the time. In between there are several guitar fill-ins which are basically country guitar fill-ins. here I suggest that we use that a major pentatonic for those lead guitar parts. In the tutorial I am also showing alternative ways of playing the main guitar with the little bit more harder to play but probably nearer to the original parts. However you want to play this song just follow the chords displayed in the description here and have some fun. Achy Breaky Heart.pdf Achy Breaky Heart.gp achy breaky heart.mp3
  10. Hey folks, here I wrote an article about the minor and the major pentatonic with some short explainations and displaying the 5 positions of them. The good news is that if you already know the minor pentatonic you can play the major one as well. You just need to adapt the root note. The patterns are staying the same - check it out here in this article which I wrote. the pentatonics.pdf If you have any questions or comments - post them here and discuss this with other students or I help you out.

  12. Here you can learn three easy pro rock and roll licks which work in a show-off situation on stage. Imagine you are playing in a rock and roll band and now the spotlight is on you. Now you want to show that you're the cool guitar player in this rock and roll bands. Playing in many rock and roll bands in my career I found out that these 3 licks are the ones which work are best in such situation. Situation is a fast straight rock and roll beat between 105 and 130 BPM and you have one till two chorus where you can show what you can play on your guitar. You want to set that you highlight and give more pressure and more expression to that song and those are the licks which work at best. Songs that you might fit most to this kind of soloing on Johnny B Goode by Chuck Berry any Jerry Lee Lewis song, protagonist like Little Richard as in this case Bob Seger ( Old Time Rock n Roll ) or whoever comes to your mind when it comes to rock and roll music. The matric is that it is a repeating pattern of 3 nose Bridge repeat themselves and since we are playing it in eight notes the extant always moved around and creates a great tension, the great effect, the wild wow effect which we want. pay close attention to my instructions in the tutorial and even if you are a beginner guitar player you will be able to play those licks. I've been playing only six months on guitar when I started to work in a professional rock and roll band and those are the licks which I used back at that time. 3 Easy Pro Show - Off RocknRoll Guitar Licks.pdf 3 Easy Pro Show - Off RocknRoll Guitar Licks.gp old time rock n roll.mp3

  16. Happy Country Blues Concept Here you can learn a happy Country Blues concept. This is a standard Blues form in G by using a very happy and cool let ring chord riff which follows the chords of these Blues form. So it is essential that you know that form by heart. I'm also showing you a scale which I invented. For this tutorial I call if they're happy country blues scale. But if you break the scale down it's a mixture between the minor blues pentatonic and the major pentatonic scale in G. We are just replacing the 4th note of the minor pentatonic which is the F with a E. The concept is giving you some advice how to play the chord Riff And then mixing it up with little solo passage has by using that happy country blues scale. The first 12 bars or the theme of these Blues and there are tabs available. After that you enter the improvisation and there you can mix up during improvisation with the chord riff and some own ideas by using the happy country scale. The cool thing of this music form he's that you can play very few notes or fast runs without scale and both are creating the same happy driving cool effect. But it is very important that you know the blues form and its chords by heart that you always can follow the chords with the riff I showed and with the scale. 17. Here you can learn a happy smooth jazz song of mine. It is basically in the style of George Benson in the style of his CD Breezin or another protagonist would be Lee Ritenour a great smooth jazz guitar player. The song itself is a vamp over the chords C major 7 A minor 7 D Minor 7 G 7 and I am showing you a very simple to play theme which even beginners among you have a chance to play. I'm showing you the theme and variation of the theme and then how to improvise with the c major pentatonic by spicing it up with the blue note. This will be in this case the E-flat as an approach note to the E. By adding this bluesy style of improvisation you can spice up the sweetness of the major pentatonic which is sometimes a little bit hard to take when you only play major pentatonic in improvisation. At the end of the tutorial I show you how you create the theme going to the main progression, go back to the theme and then start to mix up the theme of improvisation and finally come back to the theme. This is a very common way of playing instrumental smooth jazz songs. the song is in the color of green and she'll give you some uplifting feelings in this probably a little bit hard times in the corona crisis. If you are more interested in my color music concept please search for Farbmusik. joy ride.pdf joy ride.gp joy ride backing track.mp3 and here you can listen to my version of this song
  18. Here I am showing the main parts of the song “ You Got Another Thing Coming “ by Judas Priest. There are two rhythm guitars which are playing together and creating this really great heavy metal groove. Rhythm guitar number one seems to be very easy but you have to be extremely precise and steady in your palm muted rhythm guitar playing. The anticipations which I am showing are played mainly on the 4+ and are extremely important for a very groovy heavy metal guitar. Even if you are an experienced guitar player don't underestimate this rhtyhm guitar. Rhythm guitar number 2 is the recognizable part of the song “ You got another thing coming “by Judas Priest and it's pretty cool to play. Literally all parts of this written guitar are played as anticipations on the 4+. So make sure you are pretty comfortable with counting your timing during playing guitar. If you play both written guitars very precise you really created stunning and wide sound which makes this song recognizable and cool to listen to. The lead guitar which I'm showing you are some ideas which are pretty easy to play since the tempo of this song is 130 BPM you might be happy that you have some easy ideas which you can play on the F sharp minor blues pentatonic. It is not the original solo but still is very cool and works a pretty fine and is not so demanding from the technical side. Play some study pentatonic lines on the three positions of the F sharp minor pentatonic and on the roof front you play some cool repeating patterns and by adding your Wahwah to the sounds and you create a really stunning lead guitar. It is worth to go through all chapters but he you found the four chapters which are included in this longer heavy metal guitar tutorial. 21. Easy Minor Blues Pro Phrasing Tricks Here I am showing you some very easy phrasing tricks way to work great on a minor blues in a medium tempo in the Gary Moore style. I am playing basically two guitar licks where I add those phrasing tricks to make them sound more professional and more sophisticated. 99.9% of all blues guitar solos. start with the very same lick. So it makes sense to learn the tricks how to make that lick sound more sophisticated by using anticipations or moving the timing of the lick around. the trick is that you start on slightly move the starting point by playing either 8 notes or 16 notes. By moving round the timing signature you create a great effect which sounds very professional. At the end of the solo you play your highlighted lick or you're best phrase with you can play and you can repeat it by using this phrasing trick as well and this way doesn't sound boring and you can really create a great one chord blues solo. we're the phrase and tricks I show you you can create a great professional sounding guitar solo even on a beginner or intermediate guitar playing level. The blues played has the following form : Bm / Em / Bm / Bm / Em / Em / Bm / Bm / G7 / F#7 / Bm / F#7 Easy Minor Blues Pro Phrasing Tricks.pdf Easy Minor Blues Pro Phrasing Tricks.gp minor blues Bm.mp3

  24. Here you learn a very cool crossover dorian funk guitar concept. The basis of this tutorial is to understand the Dorian mode and to create some cool chord riffs by using a drop d tuning on your guitar. The center point of this concept is to have a chord riff repeated and to add some cool licks in different positions on the fretboard. The defining note of the Dorian scale is the B. It's the sixth interval and creates the really Dorian sound which we highlight in the guitar licks and chord riffs showed in this tutorial. D drop d tuning Deportes your sound setting which only contains drum bass and guitar. It is pretty similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble setting in a trio formation or also in the trio setting by Jimi Hendrix. This guitar tutorial works for all guitar playing levels from intermediate till Semi-Pro.
