Inspired by Matteo Mancuso's great fingerstyle technique I got encouraged to work more on my personal fingerstyle technique. I always felt that I have a better touch for the strings when I was playing fingerstyle guitar but I thought it's now possible to reach a certain level in your playing abilities without using a pic. Matteo Mancuso in fact was a great inspiration to start working more on my fingerstyle technique even though my goal is not speed but having the total tonal and inspiration control over my playing. I have been working over a year to get my technique ready and this is now my first recording. It's not flashy but I love the relaxed and chilling vibe I could…

This is now a first jazz guitar recording. This is a spontanious improvisation ( sight reading ) to the tune " On The Sunny Side Of The Street ". I wanted the tune to sound sweet and groovy. Even I did the improvisation with sight reading I am quite happy with the result because it sounds fresh and curious. I liked to do this slight " detune " effect with bendings on the highlighted notes of the melody.

Here I recorded a spontaneous take after the videoshoot of the minor blues guitar tutorial. I wanted to get a puristic approach to minor blues and relating to Peter Greens style back from the 60's with a strong spring reverb effect and no additional effects. I have used a Vibra King amp with a 2*12 cabinet with an off-axis microphone setting, a large spring reverb with a mix level of 25% and a dunlop cry baby. I began the recording with finger picking and in the 3rd chorus I switched to normal pic technique. The great thing with puristic recordings is that these details in fact matter. But check it out yourself If you want to check the tutorial you'll find it here …

Here I composed a cinematic blues rock original which also falls into the Farbmusik genre. It's a dark red. The task was to get a hypnotic sound with one guitar riff and to build up the whole tune and add one element after each other. You can hear 4 guitars in the stereo field. One has a swampy tremolo effect and the other 2 guitars have a creamy distortion which fits to the drop D tuning the guitars are using. The lead guitar is a sound where I use some really wide multidelays to create such a wide sound. The task is to play the lead guitar really precise because there are so many delay effects on it. On the FX section you here gunshots in the background which go al…

I want to share this recording I did a few days ago. This was a spontanious improvisation after recording a jazz guitar tutorial with the backing track I created for that tutorial : The special thing of this recording is that I have been working for many months on a new jazz guitar style in my process of redefining my way of making music and improvising. I originaly studied jazz guitar but through my many years being an online instructor I have be drawn much into blues and rock guitar because these are the popular genres. I felt now that I want to bring more jazz vibes into my guitar style in performances and I feel like I found my new style a bit. It's a co…

I recorded this video directly after the video shooting to the tutorial below. On this day there was a Pluto, Mars and Venus conjunction which is very intense and transformativ. Pluto the planet of transformation offered me an opportunity to now create a band which is willing to play my guitar music ( Venus ) and Mars can be associated with rock or blues rock music. We will see if this band will formate and take these recordings to a next level. Here you find the tutorial associated to this tune :

This is a cool and laid back version of Stevie Wonders " Isn't She Lovely " played on the nylon guitar. I recorded this version direct after the video shooting of the tutorial and beside many possibilities of the vibe of the improvisation I decided to go for the extremly laid back and cool type of improvisation. In my view less notes often sound like more music then too many notes. The nylon guitar has such a nice sound when you want to rest just in one note and enjoy that one note. That's why I picked the nylon guitar. If you love this version - here's a tutorial :

This is a cinematic rock guitar tune which I recorded spontanious right after the shooting to this tutorial here : I really love all types of cinematic rock guitar sounds but they only work with a lot of delay effects - so the playing has to be melodic and precise. I will work this tune more out I guess because I love the vibe of this song a lot.

In Peace ( Cinematic Spanish Guitar Waltz ) The waltz is the musical expression of eternity. The music moves all around in circles. So this original of mine is an expression of a meditativ spanish guitar waltz. This was the first cinematic composition I have done since quit a while and I am really happy with the result. To give the nylon guitar this dreamy and expressiv touch I often work with a high quality cathedral reverb and some reverse delay set on the beat on the tune. If you want to give it a try yourself you find the tutorial about this song and the original backing track can be downloaded as well :

This is a cool slow blues guitar original which goes a bit along with the " From Dusk Till Dawn " vibe. The picture you can see is a church in North Italy which I saw during my summer travels 2022. It is also featured in the netflix series " Curon ". Somebody said it has a Link Wray influence and in fact it is true. Today I said to one of my students that I would call this genre either " Gothic Surf Sound " or " Dark Surf Sound " - so then it makes totaly sense. The tempo of the song is what makes it so special. I noticed on many recordings of other artists that the magic of a song often comes from the tempo of the song. A good example is " Loves Theme " by Barry Wh…

Here you can learn the theme, the chords and the improvisation of the jazz standard " Sunny " such as played by Pat Martino. The " Theme " and " Chords " section is the same for everybody but on the improvisation I have made 2 sections. A " Beginners " and an " Expert " section. Even if you are an expert it makes sense to check out the beginners section and opposite because you will find some usful imformation on both. In the expert section I have made an analysis on the modes which can be used for this chord progression : A-7 / G-7 C7 / Fmaj7 / B-7b5 E7#9 A-7 / G-7 C7 / Fmaj7 / B-7b5 E7#9 A-7 / C7 / Fmaj7 / Bb7 B-7b5 / E7#9 / A-7 / E7#9 The modes whic…
