Here you find the tabs & the audio original file which I recorded for you of an open blues guitar tune of mine. It's really very simple to play from the technical part but to put in the feeling and the open time which is needed might take some practice. There is no timing on this tune - just think about telling a story with your guitar.

Here you find a cool selection of professional blues guitar double stop licks which you can use on the alternate changing chords G7 / C7. The backing track is basicly a loop between those 2 chords so you have a lot of space to practice those licks. You can use any of those licks on any other x7 chord. You just need to adapt it. But it works best on the I / IV progression in any blues progression.

Here you can the tabs of the riff of an advanced mojo blues guitar. This works fine together with the backing track which is only drum and bass. The chords displayed can be used inside the form to perform an improvisation or an alternative blues guitar riff.

Sophisticated Slow Blues Guitar - Tabs, Audio & Backing Track
Here you find a really tasty and sophisticated 8 bar blues in A with some unusual chord progressions which create a mixture between jazz and blues but can be played bluesy. While the chords are in fact influenced by jazz the solo is really simple to play from the technical side but also follows the chords. I have added 2 audio files one is the original backing track and one the tabs as played together with the backing track.

This is a version of a shuffle blues guitar song played with a drop D tuning. It's a normal 12 bar blues form but the ending has an alternative chord progression which is more fun on this song. The backing track is only drum and bass following the chords.

Street Blues Guitar Studies - Tabs & Audio File
Here you find one chorus of a blues in A played only with one guitar and no backing track. This is the type of blues a street musician would play with one guitar. It works that you play an entry lick and then the rhythm guitar by following the form of this standard blues. First the entry lick is played in 8th's, then tripplets and then 6-toles. Later you can replace the entry licks by your own creation. The audio is showing how this version sounds like.

Slow Drop D Ghost Blues - Tabs & Backing Track
This is a great straight slow blues track which you have to play with a Drop D tuning. To create a ghosty blues guitar sound I recommend that you add a tremolo and delay effect to your guitar sound. On the delay sound I strongly recommend kind of a tape or analog delay sound setting. The backing track is only drum and bass.

Creative Blues Guitar Motives - Rhythm and Melody
Here you find some exercises where you see how you can make variations on a simple blues guitar motive. This one is in the key of A and is based on the A minor pentatonic. In the first part are some rhythm variations. It's is strongly recommended that you also make some studies on rhythm notation if you don't know it till now :
In the 2nd part I make some varations on the melody but keep the rhythm motive. And in the 3rd part I make the motive and add any other motive as an awser but will refering to the original motive. You can pratice this on any shuffle blues in A or just use the one here :

Mixolydian Chicago Blues Guitar Licks & backing track in A7
Here you find a few mixolydian blues guitar licks which you can use in a blues in A or any other x7 chord. You can learn these licks by heart and then just transpose them to the chord ( key ) of your choice. The turn around lick only works on the finally 2 bars of any 12 bar chicago blues.

Here you find the tabs and the backing track to the song " Sweet Home Chicago " as played in the really famous movie " Blues Brothers " - I have made an easy arrangement for you for guitar but picked the original intro from the movie. The horn section is missing in this backing track but I played that with the piano.

Whorehouse Blues ( Motörhead )- Acoustic Blues Guitar
This is probably the only acoustic blues guitar song by Motörhead which does not mean that it is not a great song. It's a simple but cool sounding acoustic blues guitar song which is in fact very easy to play. Here you find the tabs and the backing track of this song. If you want to improvise to this tune just use the A blues scale. I have also added 3 cool acoustic blues guitar runs which you can use in your solo.

Stand By Me ( Ben E. King ) - Tabs
These are the tabs for the guitar ( bass ) pattern which is played in the popular song " Stand By Me " by Ben E. King. The bass pattern is not fully compatible with a guitar but I made a version where you don't hear any difference.

Shuffle Blues Guitar Riff - Tabs and Backing Track ( C - Blues )
Here you find the tabs of a blues guitar riff over a standard blues form in the key of C. It's a quite common riff but it sounds great and I have added some fill-ins which work with the riff. The first part is the full blues form with the riff and in the B-section you find some suggestions for the solo together with the riff and 2 repeating patterns which work great on a shuffle blues - specially when you play in a trio formation just with drum, bass and guitar. The backing track is just drum and bass so you can practice this with an original setting.

This is THE minor blues guitar riff which everybody who loves blues guitar needs to know and needs to learn. It is simple but effective.
