The classical cadence is the most important subject to understand music and how chords move or just how music works in general. There are several expression for the classical cadence. Some call it the I IV V progression, some the L Form and some Tonica, Subdominat and Dominat. But the main thing is that it represents a principle which you find in mostly all music genres which have the focus on musical expression. And the principle is that a chord progression starts with a Resting Point ( Tonica, I, Root ) then Build up Tension ( Sub Dominat, IV ) goes to a Maximum Tension ( Dominant, V ) to get back to the Resting Point. This works in all major and all minor keys the same. Below you find all chapters of this tutorial.

Here you find the tabs of the theme of Joe Zawinul's song " Mercy Mercy Mercy ". The tabs are showing the theme and the vamp where solo's are taking place. In the backing track there is the theme first played 2 times and then it enters the solo vamp. After that it goes to the 2nd part of the theme before the full final theme is played at the end.

Guitar Tapping - Basic Chord Rhythms ( Tabs & Audio )
Here you find a summary of exercises for the double handed guitar tapping ( touch technique ) where you can work out basic chord rhythms. These exercises are basic exercises taken from basic left - right hand independence exercises from piano playing. There are basically 2 types of exercises. You have those where you do ostinato figures with the left and right hand and make combinations and figures where you do independant figures of the left and the right hand. The selected chord progression is Am / Am / G / G . A very simple progression which includes both types of chords. There is an audio file added that you can hear how the tabs should sound alike.

One of the most iconic guitar solos in pop and rock history is probably the solo of Eddie Van Halen in Michael Jackson's song " Beat It ". To understand its value you must understand the time when this song was recorded. Thriller was produced by the team around Quincy Jones which contained the best musicians of that time which produced most of the hit records of that time. Steve Lukather was a constant member of this team and his guitar work was on many hit records of that time. Out of this time later the band " Toto " got formed because they wanted to be more than just studio musicians. When Triller got recorded Eddie Van Halen was the hottest guitar player on the entire scene so Quincy Jones asked him to do the solo on " Beat It ". And so he did. Any other guitar player who later joined Micheal Jackons band needed to be able to play that specific solo. Jennifer Baten was a long time constant team member since Micheal Jackson prefered female guitar players, since they are so rare in the guitar world. Shortly before Micheal Jackson died it was Orinathi who was able to play that solo and got the job. So it is worth having a look at this solo even though it's probably too hard for many players out there. I never tried it because I am not into Eddie Van Halen style and you need to have those skills to master that solo. But however this solo is worth a look and to give it a try.
