New sound equipement

 

I got a new amazing piece of equipement in my studio which I will use for my recording and my liveplaying. It is the Fractal Audio Axe FX Ultra - view http://www.fractalaudio.com/

 

Somebody recommend it to me and I bought it without hearing how it sounds.... and IT IS GREAT !!! The Ampmodels are great and the effects are really outstanding and they sound like the effects of the legendary Eventide H3000 or Lexikcon PCM70. And the latency of this thing is only 2ms ( compare with the line 6 POD - 5ms ) and yes this makes a great difference. You feel when you want to play fast.

guitartricks.com is running through some major updates since the middle of September. Since I am one of the featured instructors I have to participate this work as well and it is a lot of work. All videos have to be re-shot in HD quality. I am half through this but from now one I have to take it a bit slower since other projects are coming now.

 

Composing work

 

I finaly got the assignment to compose the music to a movie which is currently in production. This will be the 175 anniversery movie of a worldwide very well know Swiss company. The movie be be only with music. This means that I have to compose over 30 minutes of music till the end of the year.

 

Live performances

 

I have a whole bundle of live performances coming up in the next few weeks and months. This will keep me very busy but I am glad that I have my Axe FX now. This tool is really what was need to take my touch technique abilties to the next level and to take it to a more modern version of it. I think when all is over I will start to record a new guitar - only CD with touch technique. Looking forward to it.

 

Work overload

 

I now am in the situation that I have that much work that I can not do this all on my own any more. So I started to hire somebody yesturday who will help me with graphic works and homepage design. If everything works out fine she will also be responsible to any future art work on CD's or DVD's. She is also a painting artist and doing a great job on that.

Well the Fracal audio axe is in fact great. I wouldn't say it if I would really mean it.

 

And yes this assignement will pay me the rent for one year but it will be some work. That will keep me busy till the end of the year.
