Good lesson... Very difficult for me. I find it really hard to stay with the beat. Takes a lot of focus for me to find the groove. Great practice.

That's what the focus is here on this lesson.... but I can tell a secret. I also really need to concentrate on 40bpm to be really precise. If you can make it with 40 bpm and only with drum and bass then you can do any blues.

I'm glad you posted it... Because there's no way I ever set my metronome to 40 bpm on my own.   Great practice.

I'm one of your students from Carmel, IN (USA), and I absolutely loved this lesson! You are 100% correct; it was not easy, especially at 40BPB.  Good Lord, the uncomfortable silence made me think about what you said: timing, form (and the foot). Trust me, I can play G Blues; however, I never used the alternative chords of G13, C9, E9, D9, and A13. That opened my eyes. Now, here comes the best part. I was the designated rhythm player for two other guitarists when I arrived at a New Year's Eve jam last night. And it was my first time playing with these guys. The band opened with Atlanta Rhythm Section - Spooky.  After the opening ADGB, the song goes back and forth between Em7 and A13. The chords were written (not displayed) on a teleprompter to follow. Here comes the best part: if I had not sunk my teeth into your "Slow Blues Guitar" lesson, I would not have recognized the A13 chord.  Since I did - I NAILED the meatiest part of the song!! From that point, the night went great. Even better, I was invited back. For that, I say "thank you" HP.

Awesome story! What a great feeling to be confident to step up and be prepared with A13 without rehearsal.

Reminds me of when I was first learning to play guitar some 30 years ago. I worked at a bar and this old blues man was playing. I had a hard time focusing on bartending while watching him play his vintage Les Paul on stage. When he was done I was talking to him as he was putting away his instrument. I asked him if he had any advice for a new guitar player. He said "man, the best advice I can give you is to learn ALL the chords. You'll be happy you did."
