Playing at funky blues is a really cool thing to do. You can play very cool licks by just playing a few notes and going with the vibe of a funky blues tune. So the problem is not the notes with your playing since you can play only a few notes, the problem is how to set the timing and the rating of those few notes you're going to play in a funk blues.
