On workdays 1-2 hours On weekends 2-3 hours (probably even more, but 2-3 hours for sure). Short term goals: To be able to play Oye Como Va from Santana, Learn major and minor triads; Learn where to find the blue note of the blues scale all over the fretboard in several keys. Learn more minor scales positions and know how and when to use it. Long term goals: To get a good expression in a Rock & Blues context; To be flexible on any speed and any form of blues and rock and have a freedom on improvisation over the whole fretboard; To become as well a well-rounded rhythm player (Rock, Blues and Funk); Last but not least I want to be able to write good songs. Practice plan on workdays (approximate timing) 10-15 min. warm up with minor scale / blues scale patterns 10-15 min. work on expression tools like vibrato, bending, harmonics etc. short break 15-20 min. work on Oye como va short break 15-20 min. common chord progressions in triads short break 15-20 min. jamming over a backing track Practice plan on weekends (approximate timing) 10-15 min. warm up with minor scale / blues scale patterns 10-15 min. work on expression tools like vibrato, bending etc. short break 15-20 min. work on Oye como va short break 15-20 min. common chord progressions in triads short break 15-20 min. jamming over a backing track long break 10-15 min. rhythm training (take a song and try to emulate the drums/beat with guitar) short break 10-15 min. exercises in order to get a wider finger stretch range on the fretboard (e.g. so called Andy Summers chords, rhythm & blues chord changes) 15-20 min. music theory short break 15-20 min. jam along with a song I like Well, this i my approximate current plan, any suggestions, especially from Hanspeter , are welcomed.

Wow this is a very good practice plan. Very structured and covers the important things which are in fact nessary to master the guitar the way you described. I want to give you the following additional suggestions since I know how you play from your mp3 you sent me. http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=977 - as an additional to your current private online lesson http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=1343 - for Oye Como Va http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=1345 - Santana in general and since you are getting into scales I would suggest that you learn the modes as well. You don't need to get into all modes but the modes in major and minor ( not harmonic and melodic minor ) would be a great add. And learn the connection between scales and intervals. Every scale is a summary of intervals - example minor pentatonics contains the intervals 1 b3 4 5 b7 / the minor scale ( aeolian ) 1 2 b3 4 5 b6 b7 or the major scale ( ionian ) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showforum=42 http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=45 Greetings HP

Fretboard geographics is a major topic when you are learning to play. So any kind of trick which helps you is of course good. My system which I teach and works out fine with scales is also to learn that each scale is a summary of intervalls. Once you get into modes this is a great help and allows you to save a lot of time. I think this is a topic which I could consider making a tutorial series. Greetings HP

I want to go through even it is a bit heavy for me . Thank you Dieter i pinned a fretboard view with all the notes on it on the roof - in front of my PC - hopefully gets into my subconscius

Hi Dieter, this sounds very promissing what you are planing. I would make one suggestion that you also work on improvisation concepts as described : http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=908 http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=907 http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=1023 http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showtopic=1130 Actually blues and rock are very much related so you can switch ideas from the blues inprovisation to rock and opposite. Classic rock stuff is very good to develope technical skills. I also would suggest that you start to work with scales - not only pentatonics since you are willing to pratice that much. http://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/guitarschool/index.php?showforum=42 Greetings HP

I came here to find out more about the online school but there isnt a chance to see into a lesson like for example on guitartricks.com . ( Sorry about my bad english - my german is better) There i read from Hans Peter Kruesi and thats why i am here now! I am an intermediate guitarplayer and i like to proceed with my playing . I like blues rock jazz and new inspirations to do my own playing. The way like i could see as a free member on guitartricks is good and i could agree with that . If the way you are teaching here in your school is the same like - it would be interessting for me . I am from Germany , Switzerland is near and payment possibilities are better because i am not into paypal and i dont like creditcardpayments. Ok i stop now and wish YOU ALL The Best !
