Hey guys, I wonder if some of you guys would apprechiate if I would additional make the original guitar pro files which I create for any upcoming tutorial available too. I don't know how many of you guys use this software - in fact I strongly recommend it because it's really the best software to use when you really want to learn guitar.

It would not be a problem to also upload the Guitar Pro Files - i'll think about it.

What a great tutorial! After the first few practice sessions it really starts to groove. A great song that's fun to play. As always, you've broken it down perfectly for us. The PDF and the backing track are a great help. I can only recommend everyone to have access to the downloads as a premium member. That's small money for an extremely high value. Personally, I'm a little sad that there are no more gpro files available. But of course I fully understand that. Thanks for your great work Hanspeter!

Greetings Y'all! My name is Charley, I go by OG, I've been on and off with HP for many years. Life happens but I'm back and I used to be very active and, heh, nothing has changed... I get very excited about guitar music. The very cool thing about music is one can never ever stop learning. The great Les Paul said. The more you learn about Guitar, the more you realize you know nothing... LoL.. love that man... I was thinking. I've searched and used many apps to teach myself more about Theory and other such Musical Oriented activity. Do y'all use any to work thru Modes and Positions, Progressions and other such musical stuffs I actively use 3 at the moment. GutiarPro 7.5, Neck Diagrams2 and just found another very cool tool app... Fretastic... It's very cool indeed... Y'all be cool... Cya Round... 😎

So good to be home. GuitarPro is perfect. I use GP and a few other tools to help me "get it" After a few Sevier head injuries due to accidents, I have to work a little bit harder than the normal person. (I know I'm not normal... hense why I like it here, "I may not look Crazy, but I am" LoL... anyway. I use primarily GP7.5 but I also use Neck Diagrams and fretastic. Between these three I get it. Example. I stuck on the positions for minor pentatonic. Seeing them in different formats helped me put the puzzle together. The end of one position in a mode is the beginning of another position. then My big revelation was when I discovered that if you add the 2nd and the 6th to the Pentatonic... Booom... DORIAN! So now I'm looking at all the relations to the 7 church modes to the Pentatonic. there are many many other modes as well... Seems to make it easier for me. Understanding scale modes can be the most valuable tool for finding, Key, Chords, etc... It's all there in the scale. Boring, Yes, Frustrating at times... Absolutely... However the rewards are limitless and If I can figure this out... Anyone can. You should check out fretastic. I really only use it for quick reference. It's very good for that. Back to Practice... Hey guys, I am thinking about making an extra section only for premium members - like extra lessons extra long lessons or further explainations. This will be a section only accessable for premium members and I will post like one or 2 extra videos there. Since it's for you guys out there - let me know your thoughts about this. What extra should such lesson need to have ? One thing which is already on my mind to provide the courses which can be done to prepare for the Awards in the HPCrazy Guitar Academy. Awards would be :

Hey Charley, nice having you back. I remember you were a very activ member of the community 10 years ago - I was at guitartricks.com then - I left them 2012 because they changed the regulations for instructors there and at the beginning of 2019 I decided to have this community back online. 🙂 I think guitarpro is the best tool to have - and I really recommend that one. 🙂 and thats why I provide the guitarpro files here in the community. 🙂 I think I will work out something to start to understand modes better and how to use them. It's really a topic and it takes it's time to really understand it and to really be able to use them intuitiv in your playing.

OH Yes... I found a very cool tool today... it's free (of course there is an upgrade), but the free part is more than enough to work with. I dig this tool... it's called Fretastic - A Free Interactive Guitar Fretboard App the best I've ever worked with... check it out...

LoL... yep, That's why they call me OG... I'm seem to be the Old Guy in what ever circle. I know right... Started playing guitar 57 years ago. I've played at many levels. Bands, Session and so on. But dig. Life happens Sevier Motor Cycle Accident and boom all that was gone. Funny though, I could play but I didn't understand. After a number of years it started coming back. When I was Younger I was all bout Jazz and Blues In College. Love the Blues, and Jazz is, well, it's just plain fun. I love Theory, I it's the heart beat of everything. Yes, I must admit at many points it very boring. But, it all ties together and revelations begin and Boom... MUSIC! Music is my life. Really the only thing that has been with me all my life. And when I found HP many years ago. It pulled me out of a rut, a rut that I thought I'd never get out of. I look at my Instruments completely different... Yes Theory is very important... But HP Plays... Oh man... Love the style. Will I ever be able to do that... Well HP Says If I practice... Sure toss in some OG style and boom... It's all about the groove... Hello Charley, you may be a little older than I. However, I totally agree with you about music theory. Back at the beginning of time when I started playing guitar it was all about learning riffs, chords and what not. I played in bands live. However, I never learned the theory. Now that I am old and gray, theory is about all I really want to learn 🤣. It helps me understand what I'm playing and I play better knowing it!

Yes I think theory is something which is still missing a bit. I thought I want to go for tutorials which really get students to understand and use the modes. And Les Paul was right. 🙂

Maybe some Theory? I know I know, dirty word. but I love it. As the great Les Paul said, The more you learn about Guitar/Music. The more you realize you know nothing... The things one can do with guitar are limitless. Peace...

Greetings, My name is Charley... If I may interject... I had one of those clip on for the phone deals... if you get one. do not buy the cheap ones. I got one for 12 bucks... didn't work very well, kept slipping. then I got a more expensive one, (I think it was 30 bucks. Worked really well, if you shoot under florescent lights the strings look trippy... any way... not that heave, I actually didn't even notice it... Rock On! PS, the sound is not that great. I usually record audio and do the editing in Resolve...

Isn't that to heavy? I will place me for the Amp in the music rehearsal space and put the smartphone on a chair. Did that before - that will work.

I'm thinking about buying one of the clips that attach my phone to the headstock of my guitar to see if that will do the trick. What do you think?

To make a Video with good sound would be a challenge... never did that myself. Ok I was filmed sometimes or did a video with the smartphone. I could learn many things with that. ...that would be my award. I can try.

And what you guys think about the Awards ? Like you post a video of your playing and if it reaches a certain level you get an Award.... 🙂

It varys of the lesson. Some are short some long videos. The last I looked up was nearly 27min! The free content of the lesson explains the theme and s.th. more - but not all. I would need 6 lives to learn all whats interesting 😀. Aber man kann ja nicht auf allen Hochzeiten tanzen. Mir reicht oft schon etwas Inspiration. Du kannst ja mal selbst den YT Kanal ansschauen. Ich finde das Konzept wiegesagt gut.

Yes questions are no problem anyway. I want that the community also the free ones grow here. I have pull most of the attention in the past to the social media accounts but I stopped this now. It might take a while. So the must be a feature for the free members as well to engage them to join the community..... and that would be the interaction.... at least thats my current setting I have.

Thats something to think about - I would say 40 % yes. How long are the premiem videos in relation to the free video at Active Melody ?

I thought for a while about your question HP... my conlusion: I'm fine with all the offerings you did allready and do in the future. There is allready so much I could learn from ...and I just have not enough time 😬 If I have a speacial question: I will post it in the forum and be happy for your answer... that would be fine 😀 My thoughts about premium content... If you want to change something to more premium... all I can say ...use the Method of the "Active Melody Forum" ..will say: Give Lessons withe 2 Videos. 1 Video with good basic content for free and the 2. Video with more and deeper insight into the lesson for premium. I'm a premium user (What cost so little!) and think everybody who is interested in guitar playin could efford the 5 € - to get your classy lessons! LG Andrea

I like your idea. BTW, there are parts of the latest Autumn Leaves backing track that are good for doing "call and response" practice with his piano lines if you are interested in practicing that. 🙂

A call and response lesson would be cool. HP plays the call and then we respond with our own licks. That would be fun!

Thank you for asking our ideas. Actually, I am really very happy with everything I am getting already from my membership and the amazing lessons you have posted so far this year. Here are a few things that might be fun to add if you have time. 1. Alternative ways to solo on lessons that are posted on your YouTube channel - for example, showing some arpeggios or licks you can add to a simpler pentatonic blues lesson. 2. Extra extended jam/solo session on songs (like you do at the end of the regular lesson) for inspiration - maybe adding mp3s of your version of some of the songs we are learning for premium members - that would be really awesome. 3. History or interesting facts about songs you post or gear you use - vlog style

Thats a good topic which can be learnt in a course here - I thinkt that makes total sense because there might also be questions showing up which can be posted here..... and you can not learn this in one tutorial - like on YouTube. It's a longer process and one needs to build up experience in that. 🙂

I would like to learn more about how to begin improvising a solo over chord progressions in rock and blues. Do you use sets of licks pieced together to form a solo? How do you follow the chord changes to make it sound right? Basically what goes on in the mind of a experienced player when they are improvising. What are the steps to take to begin improvising?

Hey guys, I wanted to do a longer rhythm course with like 10 or more lessons to get you guys to better timing and rhythm education. Let me know if you are interested in such course. Of course it's then important that somebody controls your progress and if you are doing it right. So let me know what you guys thing about this. I will also add a poll here.

Hey Kevin, yes timing and rhythm are 50% of the music, so it is really worthy to work on it even it might not be so interesting at the first moment. But the fun will come 🙂 I have already did those rhythm courses with my life students and they improved a lot.

I just saw your post about the extended rhythm course idea. I think it is a great idea. I have realized that a strong foundation in rhythm and timing is the first thing to master in they journey of learning guitar. I have mostly been playing bluegrass on acoustic and recently have had the urge to get back into playing electric and work on my rock rhythm and timing techniques. I look forward to what you have to offer in the rhythm course.

Thanks! It is kind of rare but I have seen examples (Joscho Stephan and Robben Ford) and I find it motivating to play rhythm with great guitar leads like a jam session - it is easier to tell when I make a mistake and it is more fun. However, I am sure I will enjoy whatever you chose to teach, so either way, I am happy. 🙂

I am not sure if this is something many among you would like to do, since you are the first one ever asked for this - and I never saw such tutorial somewhere else. But for sure what would make sense to play a 2nd rhythm guitar to a backing track.

Rhythm is the basic for all music - so a course would be good for all musicians. I know (HP) you allready have Videos with this topic. I like them.But if you ask me here today - I have more interest in the topic, lessons/videos and the focus on: "What is groove" "What makes music Groovy "How to groove" "How to play in time but with a good feel." etc... Examples with groovy feeling.... showing, talking and analysing Hooklines, Rhythm Licks of well known Songs. Demonstrating how they are played with the right feel. I don't have fun to do only rhythmstudys, without the inherent aim to groove with music to a good rhythm. I hope you get what (ONLY MY) standpoint and hint is. What would be important for this kind of course. So I voted for NO first, but now expain why and what would be more interesting for me . A course with studys about rhythm AND Groove. PS: Maybe I dont like the word: to control my music - because I often feel: the more I play controlled - I loose the fun, flow and groove & begin to tense up my muscles and brain. LG Andrea

Hi, I think it would be wonderful to get more instruction on rhythm guitar playing. I have already benefitted a lot from your past lessons. Thank you for asking our opinion. I hope you do not mind if I mention an idea having to do with rhythm guitar lessons. I really love your backing tracks and I was thinking that it might be interesting if you did some backing tracks that have only your lead guitar playing so that we could play rhythm guitar along with your lead guitar. I totally understand if you have other plans and/or would rather not do this, it just seems like it would be a fun way to practice - thanks!

I would really benefit from a rhythm course! I can always improve my timing!
