Easy Improvisation Concept Autumn Leaves - Jazz Guitar The jazz standard " Autumn Leaves " is a very standard jazz tune because the chord progression with Cm7 / F7 / Bbmaj7 / Ebmaj7 /Am7b5 / D7 is a very important modul in any jazz improvisation. You find this chord progression in many other jazz tunes and autumn leaves in the raw model for it. It makes sense to have an improvisation concept related to this chord progression. The concept is very easy to play and easy to understand but if you have never done it before I strongly recommend that you do so. Jazz Guitar Secrets - II V Chord Progression ( Major ) One of the most valuable methods in jazz guitar is to work out different modules, where you put together a few chords to a block and you work out chords or improvisation for the full module. The most important modul is the II V chord progression. In this case I am talking about the II V chord progression in a major mode. Here it's the chord progression Gm7 / C7. I will show you some basic chords which you can practice and the modes which are attached to those chords. These are Dorian and Mixolydian. Then I will show you how you can start to work out your improvisation skills by using the modes, arpeggio's and approach notes. Basic Bossa Nova Guitar If you want to play a solid bossa nova guitar it is important that you know the basic rhythm figures which are created and how they are played on the guitar. In this tutorial I will guide you step by step from a very easy pattern till a complex pattern with a 2 bar rhythm figure and changing bass notes. Basic Jazz Guitar Rhythm Rhythm and phrasing is a very important part of jazz guitar. You can play very simple lines and phrases and if your timing and phrasing is great you will sound great. Hey Greg, well thats phrygian nat. 3 - sounds quiet oriental. Thats the default mode which is used on the dominant in a minor chord progression. You can play phrygian there. Maybe you like that one more. Later in an improvisation you can also play other modes like mixolydian b6 or altered.

On page 2, of the music sheets for this tutorial, the scale for G7 shows the 5th string frets 10, 11 then 14. A full step and a half between frets 11 and 14 which sounds odd to my ears…..Have played this scale several times as I work through the sheets and I can’t seem to get comfortable with this particular scale interval. Even I do this online Academy here I strongly recommend to take at least a few private lessons because everybody is different and a professional instructor can make the right corrections. I have started taking lessons, so I am trying not to get off track First tune as a lesson in jazz is Autumn Leaves ..so I will be watching that lesson of yours again and again. As I said previously, my playing for the past 50 years has been country music, picking and chording mostly on the first three frets. After over 20 years of not picking up the guitar I started again and found to my delight “hpcrazy” on utube. For the past “Covid” year I have been working on scales throughout the neck using the “caged” system as it relates to the associated chords in particular the minor, pentatonic and minor blues scales and to quickly identify the notes wherever they are. Along with that I have been working on your slow jazz versions for Autumn Leaves and Summertime and I am, I think, progressing reasonably well on these. I still noodle on the first three chords with country music on occasion. This new challenge you have provided is focused towards the groundwork to properly play jazz music which is what I would like to learn. I am 74 years old now and would like to be able to noodle around and comfortably understand and reasonably play some resemblance to jazz music before I reach 80 and yes I have a lot of enjoyable work to do. I would also like to find a slow jazz version of “Fly me to the Moon” to add to my rather limited repertoire :). In any event thank you again for all your help and your dedication. Kind regards Greg

Thanks for the roundup and the files HP ...it's a long way to the top 🤓 For me...I only like some aspects of jazz music. . I took an will take some bits. Ionian and Aeolian Mode I allready have in my ears and hands. Mixo- and Dorian Mode with Fullscales I will look deeper now. WIll make an exercise to get the scale in the hand while play it to the chord. Bit by bit 😀
