Here's now the Dec. 23 newsletter. First of all I want to introduce you the brand new amazing feature here on this website : Blogs Check out the brand new feature here in the Guitar Academy. In the blogs you can write about your journey on guitar, the exercises you are doing and the difficulties you are having and you can empower the community that you guys start to communicate with each other and help each other. I also will have an eye on your posts and monitor your practice plans and give some guidance there. The blogs are private and only premium members are able to write or read the posts there. I decided to make it only available to premium members to have some privacy there and also I feel like premium members are that group who are really interested to move forward systematically in their guitar playing abilities and that only works with dedication and disziplin. For the german speaking members here : To open up your blog just go here : https://www.hanspeterkruesi.com/members/blogs/ New Academy Award - Jazz Guitar Intermediate The next classification test is now available in my Guitar Academy. Jazz Guitar Intermediate - the requirements to pass the test are described there. The purpose of the classification tests is that online students as well as regular " live " students have a guideline where they stand with their guitar playing, what the requirements are to be able to pass at a certain level in a certain genre. This should motivate but also channelize. Nowadays you can find masses of information on the subject of guitar and guitar learning everywhere on the Internet and in my practical experience, most students are overwhelmed by the flood of information and they overtax themselves or have unrealistic short and medium-term goals. The placement tests are intended to counterbalance this. The whole system as it stands now is the sum of my experience from over 20 years of professional online education and the construction of this system, which is now slowly becoming complete, has taken around 4 years. Now it can start - the combination of online Guitar Academy and live lessons, concerts, music and and and.... I think there are very few such complete online education systems on the Internet - here every level is catered for, from beginners to budding professional guitarists. Read more here : New free download - Basic Chords Whenever a student enters my room and wants to learn guitar from the very beginning I always say the same thing : " First everybody needs to learn the basic chords on guitar . If you practice regularly on a daily basis you can make the basic chords in a fluent way in 3 - 6 months in order that you are able to play any simple song as you can see in this example. The really big mountain to climb is the barré chord. That one might take 6 months or more till you can play that one fluently in a simple song. To get the barré chord done you first start with the barré replacement chord. You have to figure out how you need to place your finger in a way that all strings are sounding. Normally a beginner is able to get 4 strings sounding at the beginning. This will improve with practice. Once you can do the barré replacement chord then you can move on to the barré chord. Playing the simple songs pay attention to the proper down - and upstrokes and also notice that the last upstroke of a bar is an empty chord. This helps you to make the chord change fluently. To fulfill the described tasks in the estimated timeframe you need to practice this daily and do each exercise 3 times. Once you pass this threshold then your fun on guitar can start. ---------------------------- and now let's go to the tutorials of this month. This month was the time of the guitar courses and so you find what you want in the genre of your choice : Blues This blues guitar course takes any guitar player from the beginner to the intermediate level. If you are a total beginner watch the Beginners Course first and once you are ready you move on to the 2nd course. Basic Rock Guitar. if you finished both courses you are ready for the Rock Guitar Intermediate Award : Jazz And here is the last entire course I recorded this month - Basic Jazz Guitar It's hard to define what exactly the basics in jazz guitar are since Jazz is an advanced genre but here I found a way where even beginners can enter the world of jazz with only basic theoretical knowledge and still sound great. and here is a quite advanced tutorial where you learn on how to use alterations properly.
