These days I am dealing with some problems of injuries from too much computer and guitar work. It's not the first time and the problem is quite common when I look back to all my students from the last 30 years. One should always keep in mind that our body is not made for guitar playing and when you play a lot you get tension and pain in your muscle system and it often comes from your shoulders even when it hurts in your elbow or wrist. Doing regular exercises as shown in this older video is the key to avoid dropouts in playing because you have to pause.
If you already run into problems and you have pain then you still can keep on playing but then focus on eartraining and really slow playing. This is a great method which improves your guitar playing way more as you might think. One of the main reasons to run into injuries in fact is when you play things which are above your playing AND HEARING abilities.
